MOT FAQs

How much does an MOT cost?

The current MOT fee is £54. If you are a first time customer you can claim a £5 off discount!

How long does an MOT take?

It usually takes around 30-40 minutes.

Do I need to book my MOT in advance?

It is always advisable to book in advance as our garage does get very busy. Don't forget; you can get you MOT up to 4 weeks in advance of the expiry date of your current MOT so don't leave it till the last minute!

What happens if my car fails it's MOT?

If it fails on anything minor such as a bulb, wiper, tyre, etc then we can normally repair it straight away. More serious defects would have to be booked into the workshop but these repairs are given priority to ensure your car is roadworthy and legal as soon as possible.

If my current MOT has not yet expired can you add on the extra days?

The MOT computer system will automatically add on extra days up to 4 weeks.

If my car fails it's MOT and my current one has expired can I still drive my car?

You are allowed to drive the car to and from a pre-booked MOT appointment but other than that the car should not be used.

Are you able to diagnose faults on my car like the main dealers do?

We have several diagnostic tools which cover most car and van models.

How much do you charge to diagnose electronic faults?

We would normally charge one hours labour (charged at £50 per hour + VAT) to diagnose the faults, but if the car is then repaired by us the charge is dropped.

Can I pay my bill by credit card?

Yes! We accept most major credit/debit cards, or you can pay by cash. Unfortunately we can not accept American Express or cheques.
